In 2008, member Joe King informed the BHS of his underwater archeology work at the bottom of Lake Potanipo. Mr. King recovered scores of ice harvesting equipment. He would cut a hole in ice and enter with his scuba equipment, feeling his way in the darkness through the mud at the bottom of the lake. His project was sanctioned through the State of New Hampshire. In the process, he has amassed a large collection of ice harvesting implements and the BHS serves at the repository for these relics of the ice business in Brookline.
