It was widely rumored that there was a certain one-of-a-kind, electric, cigar box three string guitar, made by a Brookline master craftsman, Shawn McCadden. His remarkable handiwork can be seen and heard at www.DudeVanGuitars.com. This particular example was adorned with a tribute to the small New Hampshire town of its origin. Local musicians and enthusiasts were said to have been seen with their noses pressed against the windows of his workshop while Sean was working his magic on this piece. Owned to date by no one except its elusive maker, the rumored masterpiece recently surfaced at the Brookline Historical Society, thanks to the generosity of Mr. McCadden.
Reluctant to confine such a living thing to a display case, the Brookline Historical Society decided to give it a proper home. Eager to avoid any appearance of favoritism, they decided to leave it to chance. Raffle tickets are available for $10 each or $25 for three. The winner will be selected by pulling a lucky ticket from the jar of ticket stubs.
Tickets are available at the BHS, 17 Meetinghouse Hill Road, open 9 AM to 12 Noon on Wednesdays, 7 PM to 9 PM on the second Wednesday of the month, and during an upcoming open house on Saturday, January 20, from 9 AM to 2 PM. Housebound musicians are free to send a check payable to the Brookline Historical Society, PO Box 595, Brookline, NH, 03033.
